Promoting a new social media these days is quite challenging. So we had to come up with an alternative way of getting people's attention. We decided to create our own symbol of popularity; a three-meter tall headless statue. The person with the most popular post on List101 after the first week would get their head 3D scanned, printed, and placed on the top of the statue. Finally, the famous artist Christian Von Hornsleth turned the statue into a piece of art.
A new social media suddenly came to town. List 101 was a new platform where its users are ranked by their amount of likes and followers. In conjunction with the launch, we were to create a campaign to tell youngsters about this new social media which is all about popularity.
What does President Lincoln, H. C. Andersen & Michael Jordan have in common? Well, they did something extraordinary. And like any other extraordinary person they got a statue - the ultimate symbol of popularity.
We would turn virtual likes into one huge physical “like”, in order to symbolize popularity; a three-meter tall headless statue decorated by Hornsleth.
